10.5/8 The Day the Organ Pipes Played for Us



You have to go just about to Mexico to find the home of the Organ Pipe Cactus in the Sonoran Desert.



There are two main drives (that don’t go near the International Border): Puerto Blanco Drive (reduced to 5 miles) and (below) Ajo Mountain Drive, about 21 miles. Both are good gravel roads.











Organ Pipe Cacti grow with Saguaro, Prickly Pear, and Cholla cacti. The dominant tree is the Palo Verde.





Tomorrow, we will see some striking Saguaro Cacti.
